“Echoes of a Pandemic” New Nancy Rothwell Exhibit at the Libey Gallery
The Libey Gallery invites the community to visit the new “Echoes of a Pandemic” exhibit by Colfax artist Nancy Rothwell. This acrylic collage exhibit tells a visual story about the impact the COVID pandemic is having on women.
Nancy “paints what she thinks about” and she has been thinking a lot about what courage it has taken for women to remain strong in the face of pandemics both the flu epidemic of 1918 and the COVID pandemic. In this exhibit, Nancy uses visual symbols such as roadmaps to comment on this important societal event. Once particularly haunting painting shows a nurse standing beside a tattered health care symbol. The bravery of women in healthcare settings and in the home cannot be overstated and she tries to capture this in her imagery.
The Libey Gallery is adjacent to Colfax Library. The gallery open hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 1 to 5 p.m.
