Welcome Cody Allen, New Whitman County Rural Library District Director

Hello! My name is Cody Allen, and I am pleased to announce myself as the new Director for Whitman County Libraries. Having been born and raised in Lewiston, I am extremely excited about having the opportunity to move back to my home region and help serve the amazing people of the Palouse.

I have had the good fortune to work in libraries most of my life. I started at Asotin County Library in Clarkston, worked in the academic library as a student worker while attending Whitworth University in Spokane (while also spending a few summers as a college hire at the mill for Clearwater Paper), and spent seven years at Billings Public Library in Billings, Montana. I’ve spent time as a page, clerk, reference librarian, teen librarian, and systems administrator, and I am thrilled about being given the chance to serve as the director for Whitman County Libraries.

All WCL locations are already offering tremendous services and are staffed by truly amazing people, so I feel very fortunate to help lead this group and continue to enrich the community we all serve. If you see me out and about please say hello, and always feel free to ask about what the library has going on or for a good book recommendation (spoilers: it will probably be Virginia Woolf or Kurt Vonnegut). When I’m not at the library you’ll find me outside (biking, camping, fishing), playing board games, throwing various toys for my dog (Ozma, a lovely Goldendoodle), and reading. Naturally.
