Celebrate Colfax 150 at the Library

There are many exciting events planned for the week of Colfax 150 celebration. Whitman County Library wants to highlight a few for you:

Thursday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. is Preschool Storytime at Eells Park. Join Sheri for stories, songs, fingerplays and early learning fun, most appropriate for ages 0-5. Bring a blanket for seating.

Adults are invited Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. to Trivia Night at The Center at Colfax Library. Bring your team or join one upon arrival, test your knowledge, and enjoy a little friendly competition. Come for an evening of historical, scientific, pop culture, and just-for-fun questions all centered around this year’s Summer Reading theme: Oceans of Possibilities. Snacks and sodas provided by the Friends of WCL. Please enter through the front Center door. Contact Sarah@whitcolib.org for details.

Saturday, July 23 at 1:00 p.m. join us for Cecil’s Magic at the Spring Street Mainstage. Cecil’s spellbinding, hilarious magic entices audience participation, raucous laughter and delight, leaving them wondering, “How did he do that?” Great for the entire family.

Sunday, July 24 at 9 a.m. WCL hosts a guided historical 3.7-mile volkswalk with business manager, Shirley Cornelius. Each participant receives a historic brochure and collectible library sticker. After the walk, come purchase lunch at The Center from the Friends of WCL fundraiser.

Stop in the Libey Gallery to enjoy the Art Wall of Colfax by local photographer Tom Mohr on display throughout Colfax 150. This exhibit features photos from Whitman Heritage digital collection, archived by Whitman County Library, and pairs them with a related contemporary image taken by Tom. Also view the Colfax memorabilia private collection of Tom Kammerzell and new exhibits by resident gallery artists, Ken Carper, Dan Codd, and Sharon Lindsay.

The gallery is located in The Bettie Steiger Center adjacent to Colfax Library and is open Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 1:00-5:00 p.m. Both the gallery and library will have special open hours during the Colfax 150 Celebration on Saturday, July 23 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. For additional information call 509-397-4366 or visit www.whitcolib.org
