Summer Reading 2026

Summer Reading has begun at Whitman County Library and you’re invited to participate! This year’s theme, Unearth a Story, celebrates the joy of discovery through books, programs, and local knowledge. Learn more below:

Punch Cards
Stop by any of our 14 branches between June 1 – August 14 to pick up a punch card and track your reading all summer long! Once you complete your first card you will receive a custom WCL book bag and a couple other small prizes, but it doesn’t stop there! Each punch card that you complete (first one included) will be entered into the drawing for the county-wide grand prize drawing.

County-Wide Grand Prizes
Thanks to the Friends of Whitman County Library, each age group has the chance to win a fantastic prize bundle!

  • Kids (ages 0-6): Dinosaur Dig Sensory Bin, Dinosaur Wooden Blocks, and ABC Splash Pad
  • Kids (ages 7-11): Pirate Treasure Kit, Leapfrog Magic Adventures Globe, and Borescope Camera
  • Teens (ages 12-17): Portable Karaoke Machine with Microphones and Inflatable Bouncy Dinosaurs
  • Adults (ages 18+): Costco Membership, Insulated Cooler Bag, and Ice Packs

Winners will be announced on Friday, August 21 at the Colfax Library summer reading wrap up party.

All-Ages Programming
Our Summer Reading program includes all-ages activities and events designed for children, teens, adults, and families to enjoy together. From hand-on workshops and creative projects to educational presentations and community gatherings, there are opportunities for everyone to learn, connect, and have fun all summer long.
